I'm sure many of you have seen the movie Straw Dogs, it happens to be one of my favourite movies. Released in 1971, the very same year as A Clockwork Orange and The French Connection.. this was an outstanding year for cinema. The movie controversially sees Amy (Susan George) violated in a prolonged rape scene whereby she eventually begins to enjoy the workmen's violent, degrading nature. Plot aside, there's always been something else which has drawn me to this movie, making it a real point of difference; the wardrobe!
Featuring a young and very cute Dustin Hoffman and Susan George, they managed to nail a casual late 60s look, a fantastically muted colour palette with aaran knit sweaters, short skirts, plimsoles and a touch of tweed, the look is English countryside crossed with Dustin Hoffman's transatlantic yale-esque style, in my opinion- perfect unlikely style inspiration.
